What are GICLEE/IRIS Prints?
The word Giclee (pronounced “zhee-clay”) is French for ‘to spray’ and was given to this method of plate-less fine art printing developed in 1989.
Giclee prints are produced to the highest possible standard using 100-year archival inks and papers and are now used extensively in Museums and Galleries, such as The Louvre, New York’s Metropolitan Museum and the Guggenheim, to substitute works of art too fragile to be exhibited to the public in a deteriorating environment.
Each print is created from an extremely fine spray of pigment to a resolution of 2880 dpi (dots per inch) giving the finished artwork a continuous tone appearance.
Over the past several years, Giclee printing has gained the respect of artists, graphic designers, photographers and of course the public for their exquisite quality.
These Limited Edition artworks are of the finest standard produced today and will last a lifetime as a memorable collector's item of the artist's work.
